Get Your Skincare Cold-Weather Ready!

With winter in full effect it is important to take steps to ensure that you skin is healthy and well hydrated.  Dry skin happens when humidity levels drop.  When the air outside is cold and dry the water in your skin evaporates more quickly.  Low humidity makes your skin feel dry and tight as well as look more flaky. Get Your Skincare Cold-Weather Ready!

Indoor heating is one of the main culprits of dry skin in the winter months. A great way to remedy this is to keep a humidifier in your bedroom at night.  Avoiding hot showers and baths and instead using lukewarm water will help your skin retain it’s moisture. After bathing or showering make sure to use a rich body lotion and face moisturizer on still damp skin to help lock in the water.  You can also add bath oil to your bath to maximize benefit

Exfoliation will also help your skin glow through the colder months.  Facials and chemical peels help with this process without aggravating you’re already sensitive skin.

It is also recommended to change up some of your skincare products with richer moisturizers and serums.  My recommendations would include Skinceuticals Triple Lipid Restore as it will keep skin plump and hydrated while fighting free radical along with Skinceuticals HA Intensifier which is a potent blend of pure hyaluronic acid, proxyLane, licorice root and purple rice.  This blend works to boost skins natural hyaluronic acid levels and retain moisture.

Finally make sure you’re drinking plenty of water to keep your entire body hydrated.  People tend to drink less water in the cooler months.  Eating lots fruits and vegetables not only provide nutritional benefit but they are also high in water content and can supplement hydration.
